|We just came back from a week in the mountains
Hi. I am writing to report on our stay at Toni's cabin in Pine Mountain
Club near Frazier Park, California. My wife's parents are visiting from
Sydney and we all went up there for some snow and squirrels. :)
IT WAS GREAT!! Cabin was cozy and we enjoyed the in-house library
and lit the fireplace every night and just sat and talked.
One morning I came out for a walk and was started to see a deer right
in the yard! with 4 more nearby. my 1.5 year old daughter loved
seeing the deer, and the squirrels and all the animals.
We did lots of hiking and went up to Mt. Pinos to play in the snow and
then it snowed around us the next day!
I am pleased there was no Internet access at the cabin, at first I was
a bit uncomfortable about that (I am online all the time) but then I got
used to it and it was a nice break. :)
The trails behind Peter's house were very nice and so was Peter! :)
I am back in LA now and missing the cool crisp fresh air of the mountains.

P.S. We also went to the Chorizo Plains National Monument and enjoyed
the parallel straight hills of the San Andreas fault. It gave me shivers
to imagine the tectonic plates underneath.

|Natasha is running in Australian True Bride competition - vote please!
As you all know Aleksey and I got married in 2007 -
I have entered a bridal competition to be bride of the year 2007!!!!!!!!!
I was wondering if you would take a look at my entry and vote for me (if you think of course that I deserve to win)
I would really appreciate the votes.............I thought this was a bit of fun and its kind of cool to have our photos on the internet on a bridal website..............I feel kind of famous.............okay whatever...............
anyway if you have some time to check it out that would be just beautiful
also if you know anyone else who may want to vote (for me would be AWESOME) if you could passthis email on to them it would be excellent.
the instructions for how to vote are as follows:
1. For an official vote you must log into TrueBride
2. Click on "VOTE HERE FOR THE 2007 BRIDE OF THE YEAR" to go to the Bride of the Year page, where you will find my picture in the voting section.
3. Click on my photo and you will find the 'Vote' link on the lower right hand side of the page.
4. Do not delete or alter any contents in the subject matter when emailing.
5. You are welcome to add comments in the body of the email.
6. Important: Only one vote per person will be accepted, any duplication is deleted.
7. Each vote is encrypted, so please make my votes count!
8. Votes that are not generated from the truebride website will be deleted.
No pressure of course, but if yo do vote for me I would love you more than a million bowls of ice cream!!!!!!!!!!!! hehehehehhehe!!

I was in Victoria Park in Sydney yesterday and it was BEAUTIFUL.
The grass was so green, and the sky was full of big puffy white clouds, and I saw happy people:
* parent playing with child
* a young couple hugging and kissing on a bench
* a group of people playing fetch with their dogs... dogs were chasing the ball / thingy excitedly. the little dachshund was the fastest (what's up with that?) she was like a little black arrow. so cute.
I also saw a lot of white parrots, they were sitting on the grass. Usually they are flying around screeching so it was quite unusual and magical to see them all quietly grounded.
I feel lucky to be in Australia.
And yesterday Tash and I went to Sydney Wildlife World
and I got to see koalas. CUTE! So slow and fuzzy wuzzy wittle koalas.

|my new phone is also a radio is also an MP3 player is also a camera
While my wife Natasha was in labor, she was very uncomfortable at one point (understatement) - when she was in the warm bath - she said she couldn't find a good position.
The best position is when you lean on Daddy (if you are Mommy) or when you sleep on Daddy's chest (if you are Baby).
So I jumped in the bath, in which Natasha was squirming, so she could lean on me. This helped and she relaxed - and I also bricked my nice new Nokia phone which I got in February 2007.
We just replaced it with another nice Nokia (6120) and I am astonished. This little device is not only a phone, it comes with:
- a 256 MB memory card that's smaller than my fingernail,
- stereo FM radio,
- an MP3 player,
- an optional Skype client (that costs extra),
- and a digital camera.
And if you haven't yet, see Zhenya's pictures at http://www.lifesurvives.com/family/zhenya.php

|a couple of choice quotes from Tom Limoncelli's Time Mgmt book, with my comments
Office cleaning mantra: "When in doubt, throw it out."
(Reminds me of the College Student Food Safety Rule: "If in doubt, don't eat it." (Throw it out!))
Management judges an SA by whether projects get done.
Customers, however, judge you by whether you are available
(In other words, you have to do both - be responsive and still get your own stuff done. It's one of the challenges of this profession.)

It is 7 Sep 2007 and I am really enjoying spring in Sydney.
I see fresh green foilage on the trees, little leaves growing. Flowers are blooming on trees, bushes, even grass. Little birds are flying (so are medium birds and big birds). LOTS of chirping in the morning. Spring is here! Rejoice! Rejoice! Spring is here!

Tash and I stepped out to watch the lunar eclipse yesterday. Didn't have to go far - it was visible from our driveway. Bonus!
A total lunar eclipse, framed in the arch of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

|travel and adventure - parrots in the park
The birds at Sydney are really fun. This morning I startled about 5 green parrots that were sitting on a bush in the park near our home. They flew off squawking loudly and one of them let loose a "parrot bomb" as he lifted off. I said to myself, wow, I scared the shit out of that bird! =)
The birds here are very colorful and soundful.
